Abstract oil painting on canvas, black and white, geometric, optical art, op art
I’ve named this piece. , firstly, because it reminds me of a large slide from my childhood. Secondly, I also feel as though if I were in the painting, I would slide from one side of the canvas to the other. I painted this piece because I like geometric shapes and lines and I’m particularly fascinated by those which give the impression of movement and optical illusion. I’ve chosen a simple, monochrome palette for impact, and so as not to distract from the movement of the eye across the artwork. This painting has been produced using artist grade oil paint on stretched canvas. A coat of professional grade art varnish has been applied to give a semi-gloss finish and protect the painting from dust, UV light and other environmental factors. The sides of the painting have been painted black and the painting has been fitted with picture wire, ready to hang. The painting measures 24 x 36 inches (60 x 90 cm).
