Large collection of original photographs of Victorian artist John Seymour Lucas and his family and friends, dating from the 1880s and 1890s. A total of approx. 65 original photographs, mainly dating from the 1880s and 1890s. CDVs and cabinet photographs. Albumen photos with a few gelatin silver. Several trimmed down from larger photographs, inlcuding the edges of a few of the CDVs. Good condition on the whole. A few of the CDVs have been trimmed around the edges, and a small number of other images are trimmed down from larger photos. We found this collection of original CDVs and cabinet photographs amongst the personal effects of Victorian artist John Seymour Lucas. They were found in the attic of his former home, The Priory in Blythburgh, Suffolk. It was a very artistic family, and several fellow artists can be identified in the collection, including Sydney Lee. Lucas’s wife Marie – her self an artist- is also pictured several times.
