Very good, soft/minor corner bumps but overall, very presentable. Weight, 800g, professionally packaged, 2kgs. The painting, from a folio of the artist’s unframed works, dates late 1970s to early 1980s. August Mosca (Italian, American, c11905 to 2003) was born in Naples (some dispute over his birth year recorded between 1905 to 1909), with the family emigrating to the United States in 1911. Mosca studied art at Yale University from 1924, moving to the Pratt Institute, Grand Central School of Art in New York studying figurative form under Harry Hermann Wickey (1892 – 1948). Although Mosca never did attain degree qualifications, departing studies before completion, he was a prolific figurative and landscape painter, exhibiting widely, several works at the American Institute of Arts and Letters, Brooklyn Museum, Butler Institute of Art, California Palace of the Legion of Honor, Federal Gallery, Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, New York Cultural Centre and the Parrish Art Museum.
